Making Time To Meditate

Every time I meet someone new and tell that person what I do for a living, offer stress release for self-care, normally the topic of meditation comes up. Without fail each person states that he/she has read the importance of meditation but doesn’t do enough of it.
I then ask, what does meditation mean to you? Most reply sitting in a certain way, group meditations, listening to a guided meditation, etc. Yes, these are all types of meditation but it’s not what defines meditation.
Meditation is the act of being present, mindful within whatever you are doing by focusing on just one thing which can take endless amounts of forms and it allows your body and mind to relax.
It’s so easy to complicate a simple act, such as meditation which in essence is really about you finding excuses so you don’t practice it. I bet each of you practice meditation in some capacity yet haven’t been aware of it.
For example, do you like to sit outside and just watch the clouds pass by? Or practice yoga, tai chi, dance or other forms of gentle movement? Perhaps, when you can’t sleep you count sheep or count? Or pray, repeat a mantra? Listen to instrumental music and just become lost to the sound?
All of these are forms of meditation and finding the one (or ones) that works best for you is what is important. 
I practice various forms of meditation because I know it’s not just one size fits all. Sometimes I like to simply stare outside my window as waves crash on the beach, listen to guided meditations, practice breathing techniques, apply self-Reiki, repeat mantras, listen to binaural beats, etc. I just choose the form that best fits me in the moment that will bring me peace and relaxation.
Recently I was watching the sunrise and felt inspired to record a meditation. In the past I would have ignored this as I would have thought no one would be interested (limiting belief) yet this time I took action. Now, I’m sharing it with you so you too can benefit from that glorious and peaceful moment.
This meditation is only 1 minute long yet it’s enough time for you to pause long enough for your body to release stress that it’s been holding on to and your mind to relax.
Take a moment right now to listen to this meditation, sit back, close your eyes, and feel the sound of my voice, the waves, and the energy flow throughout your body as it has been blessed with Reiki. Then give thanks to yourself for this relaxing moment and return to your daily life.
