From vision to reality!

I’ve always been a very creative person which is a blessing and also a challenge, which as a business owner this can be awesome or detrimental.

Finding a balance involves taking small steps towards any direction and pushing through fear that comes sneaking up. This also entails asking others for help and to be held accountable so I don’t b.s. my way out of it.
Can you relate to this?

The fear I face numerous times about moving forward such as following up with potential clients or networking is because I fear rejection. I know it stems from childhood when I would be rejected for asking my wants in various ways.

This is a constant battle and one I face on a daily basis. I often give myself pep talks in order to move through the fear and once I do I am gifted with a new client or confirmation that I did the right thing.

My intention when I began Mariposas Holistic Healing in 2013 was to create a healing center where people can come and receive a variety of wellness services. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity of working in 3 different wellness center, 1 in New Mexico and 2 in Miami, one of which I’m still a practitioner in. I still have my vision of establishing my own center yet for now I’m content renting space others have. I’m thankful for each center as they have shown me different ways of working with other practitioners and within the center itself.

I primarily sought the centers so I can have a room to work out of. As I began to teach Reiki I knew that the center I would work in had to have a teaching space, which is what brought me to Gables Optimal Health Wellness Center where I now work and teach out of. Last year  I was inspired by Sheri Kaplan, founder of the Holistic Fair and Wellness Clinic in Hollywood and finally had the opportunity to participate. This year I spent about 2 months traveling up to Hollywood and offered my chakra balancing services in the clinic. It was a wonderful experience yet honestly I stopped attending because I was tired of the commute.

So, I thought about how I can manifest it in Miami. This idea has been brewing for many months until finally I took action and began to co-create it with my colleague and fellow practitioner Lina Collazos.

I’m so excited to announce that on September 7 we are having our grand opening of our Natural Wellness Clinic which will be offered 2x a month in Coral Gables.
I share this with you, especially those out of Miami, because I encourage you to take imperfect action towards an idea that you’ve been thinking about in your mind for a long time. I believe in your ability so much that I’m offering the first 10 people who respond to this email or book online a complimentary Manifestation Coaching Call, regardless of your location. You’ll end the call with at least one action step you can confidently take immediately.

All you have to do is click here for my booking calendar and choose the Manifestation Strategy Session.

With the right support you too can turn that idea into an action that transforms your vision into reality. You’ll release the need to be perfect and appreciate the steps you take.

Imagine talking with someone who will totally listen to you blurt about your idea and then empower you to create an objective that will make it real.

For those of you in Miami, please join me this Thursday, September 7 or Sunday, September 17 at the Natural Wellness Clinic. During the day you can come browse at no cost unless you choose a service from one of our gifted practitioners or products from our vendors. Then stay Thursday night as I lead a chakra balancing group Reiki meditation. Sunday afternoon we will have special guest Marley, of Meditation with Marley.

  • The first 10 people who sign up will also receive a remote energy session to clear any blocks that have come up during our conversation.

The Eclipse is almost here!

Hola!
Although I was raised in Miami and spent most of my childhood in the ocean one way or another, I have a strong afinity for the mountains. My ideal living location will have the beach and mountains, thus this image can be found on my vision board. For a couple months now I have felt a huge tug towards spending time in the mountains.
I envisioned myself sitting in the forest with the mountains behind me. I didn’t know where I was but I just felt them around. I knew I needed to be within nature and around the majestic mountains that tower over me. As another nudge to the universe to help make this trip possible I posted on my personal Facebook profile a picture of me on a mountain top facing a forest beneath me.
About a month ago the opportunity presented itself when a friend posted on Facebook that she was headed to South Carolina to watch the eclipse, an event that will never happen again in my lifetime. I knew I had to go, although I’m not sure why.  I quickly glanced at my calendar and saw that weekend was clear of any activities and then responded to her that I was in. The rest just flowed together as we left Thursday, August 17 on a road trip to South Carolina to camp out in the mountains for the weekend. Then on Monday we would spend some time at a one of her friend’s to watch the eclipse and then head home.
As another confirmation from the universe, I received this video after my family cruise vacation earlier this month from a Peruvian Shaman discussing the ancient prophecy of the August 21 eclipse. I was so excited about seeing this that I knew I had to share it with you.
Since viewing this video I have dedicated myself to eating only whole foods that are colorful and nutritious. I have also been making time for every morning for mediation and Reiki along with physical exercise to release the excess toxins within my physical and mental health aspects. I’m also writing to myself a future letter about how I would like to see this next year to unfold.
I invite you to join me this weekend to really focus on releasing what you don’t want and embracing a future of what you would like to create in your life. Let’s take this time to delve into ourselves and embrace our inner light warrior spirit as we spread loving energy into the world.
To help inspire you I created a dream sheet for you to write the letter which you can access by clicking here which you can edit online or print out.
For those of you who are Reiki practitioners, this is a wonderful opportunity to practice daily Self-Reiki with the intention of cleansing plus connecting energetically with Mother Earth.
Whether you can get to the mountains or not is irrelevant. The energy will be felt wherever you are. So plan to take some time on August 21 to connect to Mother Earth and give thanks for all that you have.
How you focus on detoxing will be entirely up to you. I’d love to hear from you about your experience with the Future letter.
PS For detox support, join me in the upcoming 21 day Whole Detox online program in which I will also be following the 21 day whole detox. We’ll dive into the 21 day Whole Detox book and support each other on an empowering journey through health and wellness within the 7 aspects.

Feel free to share comments or ahas you experienced during this time, especially as you wrote your future letter.

Cruisin’ with the family!

For the most part of this summer, except for a couple of weekend trips I have stayed focused in Miami so I could spend time building my business, be with my family, and enjoying my new apartment. Since moving into my new space I’ve actually felt more rooted, happier, and focused.
As much as I love traveling, I’m learning how to find a balance between it and staying settled. Part of my business plan is to travel because I love the idea of being somewhere new and getting away from my everyday routine, even if it’s just for a night or two.
What do you do to get away from routine?
Somehow August is turning into a traveling month and I’m so excited about the different trips. First I’ll be traveling with my family for a week long cruise to the West Caribbean. We’ll be visiting Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. Then I’ll be traveling with another friend to the mountains of South Carolina as I’ve been dreaming about being in the mountains for a few months now. The purpose of our weekend trip is to see the eclipse.
Finally, the last weekend of August I’ll be spending with a group of enlightened people who are seeking personal growth through Passionate Manifestation, the 2nd empowerment phase of Essence of Being, a 3 day workshop about bringing more abundance into one’s life. I have already taken this workshop and will be volunteering to staff. Yet even through volunteering one receives as one gives. This workshop is happening at the perfect time for me because I’m definitely coming into more abundance yet also facing many fears surrounding it.

What was your summer highlight?
Point of this newsletter is not to boast about my upcoming trips but to share that vacations or getaways I believe are a necessary part of self-care, especially if you have a family. That being said, it’s also important to find opportunities for getaways or even staycations without the kids for even one night to ensure you rekindle your romance with your partner or have time for yourself if you’re single.
If the thought of this being selfish comes up then I encourage you to dismiss it immediately. It’s not selfish, it’s soulfish, as my colleague Michelle Alva states. She’ll be speaking more about this at our free event on August 27 in Miami. For those who won’t be available, join us on Mariposas Holistic Healing Facebook Live on August 27 at 5:30pm.
Remember, before you were a mother/father/Employee, etc. you were you with your own passions and dreams. So take some time to enjoy yourself, enjoy this life, and take a trip however that means for you without guilt or judgement. Release the guilt of always having to be together because honestly that’s not healthy either. The kids need time away from you as you need from them. It’s about practicing independency for when they do finally leave home.
If thoughts of guilt rise up then schedule a complimentary session with me and let’s discuss it so we can release it. Click here for my online schedule.
PS: People in Miami check out my upcoming Reiki 1 and 2 classes. For those outside of Miami let’s discuss how you can receive Reiki through my Reiki Love On program.

The 4 agreements!

I remember coming across the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz while visiting my sister during her healing journey 8 years ago. I recall how I sat on her couch and read through the book that teaches how following these 4 agreements will release you from endless suffering.
I also remember at first thinking, yeah right, but then over time as I stepped more into my spiritual awakening I found these to be true. Throughout the years these agreements got lost in my quest for more information yet it was time for a reminder. The universe, I believe, put these agreements, rather this image, back on my path as a reminder to focus only on what I can control, which are my thoughts and actions.
Do you believe the universe (God) puts people and ideas in our path?
Image
Once I saw this image, I knew it was a reminder to be more present as I assess who I am and where I want to go. To ensure I kept it in plain site, I immediately printed it out and hung it on my wall where I could see it every day. I’m happy to note that I’ve done very well in my self-empowerment progress of not taking things personally. Granted there are still times that someone can cut me to the bone with their words yet I’m more aware of my reaction and the pain doesn’t last as long.
The agreement I’m currently working on is about being impeccable with my word, being authentic. As a healer and counselor, I’m very much aware of what I say and to whom. Most importantly though it’s about how I’m showing up. For example, when I offer suggestions or recommendations they are of resources and techniques that have worked for me at some point or other in my life.
Authenticity is about being honest and not portraying someone I’m not. When I teach Reiki, I share my truth that my self-Reiki daily practice may only be a few minutes of practicing the Reiki principles and 1 or 2 hand positions or it can be a full session that lasts 10-15 minutes.
So now, I pass these on to you, my tribe, as a reminder that self awareness is a daily practice towards self-empowerment. Transformation is a lifelong journey and when you have learned your lesson, then it’s time for you to transition. Harsh, but true! What’s important is finding a spiritual practice that causes you to look within and above for assurance you’re on the right path.
What spiritual practice do you incorporate on a daily basis that helps you stay present?
If you’re struggling with finding a spiritual practice or techniques to assist you in being more present, then I invite you to a complimentary discovery session. With over 17 years of experiencing listening to thousands of people expressing their stressors, I’ve been able to identify at least one technique that can be of support regardless of your situation.
Enjoy your life and every minute you’ve been given because today is a gift as tomorrow is not guaranteed. Take a moment today and choose a time to speak with me by phone so we can discuss your struggles with spiritual practice. Click here and find the time that works for you.
Feel free to reply to these emails as I’d love to hear from you. Pass this email along to someone who may benefit from it as we all need love everyday!

Thank you for being a part of my expanding family.

5 tips to help you focus better!

“Focusing is a challenge for me!”

“I’ve been told I have ADD.”
“I get distracted easily.”
“I can’t focus and it’s stressing me out.”
Do any of these ring a bell for you?
Have you stated one or more of these statements?
Honestly, I can say that focusing has always been a challenge for me yet it wasn’t until recently that I really understood why for me and my clients, especially as this issue has been mentioned by many them as a main stressor for them.
In order to help myself and my clients, I set out to research why we struggle with focusing. I have found that there are numerous reasons for our inability to concentrate which range from brain and hormonal imbalances and physical and mental health issues. Within my research I found a condensed article form Healthline that I’ve included by clicking here that discusses 24 reasons why we can’t concentrate.
A few of these reasons, such as anxiety, insomnia, adjustment disorders, depression, migraines, PTSD, and stress are ones my clients specifically struggle over which then impacts other areas of their lives. However, another one not mentioned here is boredom.
If any of those stressors, even boredom, are reasons you have identified for why you can’t concentrate then I want to share a few tips that I have learned to improve focus.
5 Focusing Tips
1st tip: Maintain a regular and consistent sleep schedule. Identify how much time you really need to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for your day, 6-8 hours.
2nd tip: Eat a colorful array of foods; especially blueberries, fresh caught fish, organic produce as much as possible or speak to your holistic professional for a mind enhancing supplement. (Check out Whole Detox for more information, click here)
3rd tip: Incorporate at least 5 minutes of meditation/mindfulness practice a day. Here’s a 1 minute meditation that you can use to bring your mind back into focus.
4th tip: Find your reason why you are doing the work that you so you feel more motivated to do the most challenging and boring tasks.
5th tip: Block schedule the tasks you don’t like and balance them with ones you do.
Block scheduling? What’s that?
For those who don’t know what block scheduling is, this is a tip that has been helping me to really stay focused (still a work in progress). To put it simply, each day you assign specific tasks and times for you to work on those items that you struggle with. Let’s say you know your most productive time is in the morning, so schedule the most time-sensitive or most challenging activities at this time.
For example, I block at least 2 hours a month towards bookkeeping, not my favorite task but one that needs to get done. I recently created a calendar, titled block calendar, with a different color within my google calendar in which I identify the tasks I know I need to do each week. Then once I complete the task, such as bookkeeping, I celebrate with a predetermined reward, perhaps taking myself out to eat, calling a friend, taking myself out somewhere fun, visiting my godson and niece or ending my work day early and laying in my hammock watching a comedy or reading a book.
It’s still a work in progress in regards to staying focused on tasks that are a bore to me yet I’m determined to ensure that I have fun and continue to create the life that I love.
Speaking of the life that I love, I want to welcome a new group of Reiki 1 and 2 students that I had the honor of teaching last weekend in the Gables Optimal Health workshop room where I see clients. They are a reminder of why I want to continue finding support for my challenges which I know you, my tribe, also struggle with.

So, to recap, if focusing is an issue for you, first begin by understanding the reason why. Is it a hormone deficiency, lack of nutrients, or boredom?
If you’re unsure I’d love to help you identify which one so let’s start with a complimentary stress release session which you can book by clicking here.
Then get organized at the beginning of your work week or day by identifying the tasks you need to accomplish, both fun and not so fun. Prioritize them and then schedule them within your calendar by blocking specific times that you can dedicate to that task.
Finally, reward yourself after you accomplish the most challenging and boring tasks. This can range from time on social media, to shopping, texting, going out for a walk, etc. Remember though put this in time increments too because if not you can get “lost” or spend too much time on other activities.
I hope this was helpful. Please respond and let me know what your favorite tip was or any ahas you received from this. Pass this along to someone who may benefit from it as we all need love everyday!
Thank you for being a part of my expanding family.

Celebrate your independence

Can you believe it? We are now more than half way through 2017! If you haven’t yet, go ahead and take a few moments now or schedule some time to reflect on your intentions for when you began the year and where you are now. Don’t complicate it, simply think about what you stated and where you are now.
Have you accomplished what you set out to do? Or are you still feeling as though you’re gasping for air?
I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of new year goals, but I do make it a point of creating a theme for the year. For 2017 it’s “limitless abundance and reflecting back I feel that I’m doing very well as my business is growing, I’ve been offered a part-time position within social work, I’ve moved into my own apartment, my physical health is great, and I’m dedicated to doing the best that I can.
As we move forward into July and approach Independence Day let’s focus on gratitude for what we do have, the freedoms, the abundance, the family, the opportunities, etc. Yes, it’s not perfect, however, when we focus on what we do have that’s going well then it begins to dim what we are struggling with. Afterall light does outshine darkness. It’s also about continuing to take imperfect action. If you don’t like something or someone, what are you doing about it? Complaining or taking action?
All seriousness aside, this July I want to put some fun back into the summer with a Fun in July Challenge 2017 (#funinjuly2017) which will happen within Our Wheels of Life Facebook group. The challenge is for each day you do something fun and post it, either via video or picture in the group. I created this challenge as a push for me to ensure that I have more fun and to be creative. So I double dog dare you to join me and have more fun as we embrace our inner child’s silliness.

Graduating through transitions!

As we head into summer many of us are celebrating the end of school with graduation ceremonies for our loved ones. Many schools choose to hold celebration ceremonies to honor each student for their hard work and dedication, regardless of what school year they are in. For parents it means their children are transitioning into a new grade with more responsibilities or a new lifestyle if they are headed towards college.

Within the school of life, however, there isn’t an official graduation day which identifies the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another. Life just continues to flow with daily responsibilities and challenges, with some feeling the weight of what we are learning or experiencing heavily on our shoulders or feeling it elsewhere in our bodies.

Image
The school of life is a concept I use and that of being a perpetual life student. This frame of mind encourages me to remain curious about each experience regardless of its intensity and it is one I share with my clients. Each problem I believe is really a challenge that requires you to approach it with curiosity and compassion for yourself and others. If you think of each situation as your worst teacher, say one that criticized you often or even slapped your hand whenever you didn’t answer correctly, then you will stay with the fear of doing the right thing that works for you. However, if you recall your most supportive teacher who listened and encouraged you to make your own decisions regardless of it was right or wrong you would be optimistic of making your own decisions. It works the same way in regards to looking at the problems you are facing. You have a choice of how you are going to react. If you choose to blame others, stay angry or upset when situations don’t go as you expect and focus on frustration because you can’t control others, you are prime for a breakdown either mentally or physically due to the stress you keep on yourself. Yet, if you view it as a student and you’re trying to figure out the best possible solution you can save yourself lots of pain and suffering, especially when you reach out to others for help.

Recently I was speaking with a new client about a problem she was facing. She was stressed about her current situation because she felt burdened about taking care of someone she wasn’t expecting to. Her anger carried into focusing all of her attention on this other person and neglecting her own self-care. Throughout our discussion I listened as she released, which she admitted she hadn’t shared with others before and then we identified at least one self-care technique she can bring back into her life in a realistic way.

After our discussion she received a stress release energy session and said she felt so much better and at ease. She admitted the knot in her throat was gone (talking and the energy release supported that) and she felt better, especially now that she had someone to release to and an activity to plan in her week.

The point is the problem didn’t go away that she was having but she found solutions that would help her manage the situation and release some of the stress she was carrying. Looking through the eyes of a student you become more powerful as you realize you have more options in front of you then the feelings that were holding you back.

By remaining locked in feelings of anger and resentment you actually give your power to others, whether they know it or not, yet when you problem solve and talk it out (not think it out for it mainly goes round and round without resolution) then you identify what is important to you, what are you able to control, and what are some solutions that you can bring to the surface that can help you move through the situation.

Stay curious regardless of what age you are and embrace the School of Life and the lessons it offers you every day.

To all the graduates, congratulations on your next venture and may you have continued success in all that you do.

Going Live tomorrow

Excuse the intrusion so early into the week but I wanted to share an important announcement. Tomorrow, I’m breaking through my fear of showing up by doing 2 live videos via social media. Excited?? You should be because you get to participate in discussions with me about forgiveness and energy medicine. Details below!
Part of my fear of showing up is due to insecurities since childhood of being laughed at or worse not taken seriously when I had something to say (I was bullied often). So, now I’m taking imperfect action and know I will improve each time I show up.
Join me in taking imperfect action through a fear you have.
I’ve been wanting to do videos for awhile now but I keep coming up with excuses for why I come with excuses of not doing more videos (which I’ve been asked to do). So, tomorrow night I’m taking an idea out of my head and presenting it for the world to see, releasing attachment of who will see. I want to show up in the world with my message of releasing stress through natural healing techniques.
As my tribe of mariposas, people constantly transforming towards greater love, I would love your support and honest feedback. Please show up tomorrow or put it in your calendar to watch for later. Share my message with others if you find it useful. Most importantly, let me know what you thought of my webinar and what more would you like to hear (inspire me).
Tomorrow I’m excited to share that I’ll be doing two live videos.
Video 1; First I’ll be doing a Facebook Live at 9am about forgiveness through an inspiring Facebook group called Lightworkers Rise Up, click here  to join. .
Video 2: In the evening I will be doing a Youtube Live video with a slideshow presentation on Energy Medicine, Real or Woo? It’s at 7pm. Click here to join live.
I’m really excited about stepping out of my comfort zone so I can gaze into your eyes through whatever screen you’re using. It’s an amazing concept.
Pass this email along to someone who may benefit from it as we all need time to focus on ourselves everyday!

Love and hugs,

Let’s discuss ways to include more self-care into your life.
I’m here to support you with a step-by-step plan to balance your life, embrace your power, and focus on health.

9 ways to empower your communication

How often have you become stressed out because you felt misunderstood or not listened to by someone?
Communication, a major trigger point for stressful situations, is the foundation for how we interact with others. From individual conversations to talk shows; radio programs; clubs dedicated to public speaking; business meetings, etc.
Communication entails both verbal and non verbal ways. It’s not always what you say that hurts, it’s your actions that truly define the truth. certain rules still apply when it comes to interaction through words.
A tip I learned years ago while as an undergraduate that I repeat on a consistent basis is “Say what you mean, mean what you say, and don’t say it mean.”
What’s your  favorite tip that’s helpful when you communicate?
Let’s review ways to empower your communication so you can improve any relationship, especially with yourself.
1. What you know
Education is all about learning the basics and to be an effective speaker is to practice what you’ve learned. Take classes at school, such as public speaking or drama to learn techniques. Or read more articles like this or watch videos related to communication. Most importantly get out there and make mistakes, then learn from them.
2. Listening
It’s just as important as asking questions. This is probably the hardest technique in communication. Take a moment to remember the last time you were conversing with someone and just as you were getting really into the story the person interrupted you to interject his/her own opinion. Truth is we all want to be heard and sometimes we also compete with others to ensure that we feel important. Fact is just allow the person to finish the conversation without personal interjection unless you have questions to encourage more details, will really allow the person to feel listened to.
3. Eye Contact
Put down that electronic gadget and look at the person speaking to you. By looking directly at the person who’s talking then you show you are fully engaged and that you care about what the person has to say to you. There’s a lot to say when it comes to directing your attention to your audience with an eye-catching gaze. Regardless if you are speaking to an individual or a group of people, it’s important that you keep your focus.
Image

4. Just kidding

Let your funny bone have a go at it when speaking to others. A little bit of humor can do wonders to lift the tension or worse boredom when talking. However, be mindful that your joke doesn’t offend others or is hurtful. Sarcasm is really the truth masquerading as a joke.

5. Join a tribe
Interaction is all about mingling with other people. By joining groups of people you feel comfortable in then you’ll get a lot of ideas, as well as observing how others communicate and learning new techniques you can incorporate.
6. Me, Myself, and I
Listening to the sound of your own voice while you practice what you want to say to an individual or a group of people will assist you in ensuring you are speaking from your truth. By speaking out loud what’s in your head you’ll hear what’s really true and what you’re projecting to others. With so many ideas and thoughts in our heads it can be overwhelming yet writing or speaking it out will clear it up in no time.
7. Say Cheese
A smile says it all much like eye contact. There’s no point on grimacing or frowning in a meeting or a gathering, unless it’s a wake. You can better express what you’re saying when you smile.
8. A Role Model
Find at least one or two people in your life you have listened to when they’re at a public gathering or maybe you’ve conversed with 1-1. Talk to them or observe how they communicate with others and identify techniques you would like to incorporate into your own life. I bet that they did the same thing so don’t think you’re “stealing” their moves. Rather you’re taking what seems possible for you and adapting it to your own way.
9. Preparation
Make the best out of preparation rather than just scribbling notes in a hurried panic. Some people like to write things down on index cards, while other resort to being a little more silly as they look at their notes written on the palm of their hand (not for clammy hands, please). This is helpful especially if you are facing a challenging discussion with someone. You can make a pointer list to identify all the points you want to discuss and why it’s important for you. Find the technique that works best for you and stick to it.
Communication is not just what you say but how you present yourself. These tips will help ensure you are present and focused regardless if you are speaking to one person or many people.

Book a complimentary discovery session with me

Let’s discuss any blocks you may have in your life or struggles with communication.
I’m here to support you with a step-by-step plan to balance your life, embrace your power, and focus on health.

What truly motivates you?

A few weeks ago I wrote about happiness being an intention which in turn assists you in being motivated to do more things to be in a constant state of happiness.
Happiness is an emotion, energy in motion, which entails steps as you continue striving for it. Yet sometimes our happy balloon get popped when situations out of our control occur which can trigger us and cause us to feel down, unhappy or really angry. These are feelings too which can be dispersed when we remind ourselves (thoughts) that we want to be happy and focus on the feeling we most want.
I have identified 8 questions that are insightful about what motivates you towards happiness. You can answer them out loud or journal them. I invite you to reply to this email as I’d love to hear from you and share with me your responses to these questions.
1. What do I really want?
This is a very general question. I’ll make it easy for you. I’ve broken this question down into 7 aspects that I call the holistic balance. I use this in my coaching program, however, I’ll share it with you so you too can identify what you want.
Click here for the holistic balance.
Find what you want for each aspect and then choose 3 aspects you want to focus on, then create small, tangible steps that are easy to accomplish. The form will be emailed to me which I can then share with you by email and/or a complimentary call to go over the form.
Click here for my online calendar to schedule your transformation consultation.
2. If I were to focus on change would it be for myself or someone else?
Change is a part of our lives and it happens on a daily basis. For example, a break in any routine is a change. The point of my question is to ensure if you are purposely changing any aspect of yourself for you or based on someone else’s expectations.
For example, if you wanted to release (I don’t like to use lose because it’s about releasing it so it doesn’t come back) weight, would you do it for your personal health or to shut up others who criticize your size?
By identifying who you are really wanting to change for and what you want to release in your life then you will understand your source of motivation.
3. What will I gain if I change?
We are pleasure seeking individuals. Therefore, if we want to change it’s because we are wanting to improve ourselves. Having goals is great yet knowing the purpose of the outcome is even better. Back to the releasing weight example; what will improve when you let go of your excess weight? By focusing on your gains then you will have more motivation to change.
4. Am I comfortable with how I’m living and being?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with what you want to change. Being comfortable can occur in various ways. For example, you can be very comfortable in your current relationship with your partner yet you’re frustrated because the relationship is not growing, you don’t feel passion or you can’t remember the last time you had fun together.
My point is that by being too comfortable it creates a fear that to change will cause an unhappy and painful disruption to your life, therefore you create numerous excuses as to why change can’t happen. Final question, what’s the worst thing that can happen if you were to change your comfort level?
5. Have I done enough for myself?
Taking care of you is a must and a top priority. This entails identifying in each aspect what is one thing you can do for yourself everyday. For example, in releasing weight you will want to incorporate healthy yet yummy foods, discover exciting ways to move and raise your heartbeat, and taking time to be grateful for each day. If you’re not putting yourself as number 1, then who are you putting first?
6. Am I happy where I am today?
If you answered no, then what would it take to say yes? What needs to happen for you to feel happy? Remember happiness is an emotion, therefore it’s not what you do that’s important, it’s how you feel. So, if you think you need more money, a better partner, etc. then think again. These are irrelevant because it all starts with where you are right now. Yes, having more money may make certain situations easier and more comfortable but it doesn’t necessarily make you happier.
7. What motivates me?
There are so many ways that can make everyone happy and that is what makes each of us unique. Finding your motivation may be different from another person, so STOP comparing yourself to others. We are all on our own journey in this life and we walk our path in different ways.
Tip: Create a collage of what brings you happiness or a vision board. You can do this on poster board or pinterest / Instagram (please share it with me). By finding images and words that instill happiness in your life then you will find what motivates you. It could be your family, friends, your purpose on this earth, etc. Plus it helps if you put this collage in a place you see everyday so it reminds you of what brings you happiness.
8. What really makes you, You?
Who you define yourself to be is incorporated from the day you were born and all the experiences you’ve had up to now. We have all experienced going through “phases” as though trying on different costumes figuring who we want to be like. Who you really are comes down to your values. Do you value community? Honesty? Love? Integrity? Motivation? Balance? Etc. Identify at least 3 values that make up your foundation and focus on activities that really draw them out. If you don’t know, then research (google it) “values” and identify 3 key values you want to incorporate more into your life.
In conclusion, by answering these 8 questions you will have a clearer idea of what motivates you. Once you know what motivates you then it’s about making small steps towards the goals you want to accomplish. However, the best support comes from those you surround yourself with. So create a community, call upon people who you know will support you or contact me and let’s work together on building you up today for a healthier and happier you.
